36 Girl Names with Modern Spellings

Some of the girl names here are considered traditional. However, they have a non-traditional spelling. My name is on this list because my parents wanted me to be named after my dad (Steven) but didn’t want to use the classic spelling of Stephanie. So, instead, my name is spelled Stefanie, and I love how uncommon it is. Use this list as inspiration for the modern spelling of your favorite girl’s name.

I have always been fascinated by photography. I have spent countless hours studying photographs of people, while considering the angles, the lighting, and the editing the photographer used. I love the fact that photography has the amazing ability to transport us to a different time, or place with one single shot.

It was not until I started blogging that I decided to take photography more seriously. With camera in hand, I started experimenting with photographs of my apartment, of friends, and family. It was after experimenting in this way that I realized my passion for photography. I have no formal training or background in this field, but I realize that passion can open your eyes to the impossible, so not only did I invest in the proper equipment I also spent the necessary time to learn everything I could to enhance the skill it takes to be proficient with this passion.

I enjoy, and appreciate the opportunity to photograph bloggers, couples, influencers who make an impact in their profession, families, and also lifestyle type setting. I take an individual approach to each person I photograph. I make every effort to embrace and highlight the focus of what they are trying to convey to their audience with each session.

I look forward to working together and capturing the potential magnificence of your moments through my eyes and the lens of my camera.

Strange names of children, why children are given unusual names — December 13, 2019

Some children’s names are difficult to remember even for parents

Share

We will not list them (although, of course, we will! ), but let’s try to figure out what influences the decision of the parents and what the subconscious actually dictates when adults decide that the name Antoinette-Melissa-Bathsheba or Aaang-Koney-Boleslav is suitable for the child.

A life hack for everyone who has already understood for sure that the addition is worth waiting for in December, but has not decided on the name of the child. Open the calendar and choose! Here is a whole expanse for lost parents. Joasaph, Evgraf, Mercury, Tivuriy, Laurus and hundreds of other names if you want your son to stand out from the rest. There are more familiar rumors, but who do you want to surprise Vasily, Nikolai or Ilya? Options for girls — Pavlina, Susanna, Flora, there is even a whole Dekabrina!

Parents named their son Hamlet, but he behaved like the last Harlequin

Share

Jokes aside, in pre-revolutionary times it was the church calendar that guided parents who were expecting an addition. The choice corresponded mainly to Orthodox traditions. Even earlier, they relied on the names of the gods, thus hoping for their patronage. After the revolution, most people realized that there is no God, and began to name children after the leaders, glorified scientific progress, and came up with abbreviated names. So there were Algebrins, Iridians, Valterperzhenki, Voenmores, Lenstals and a whole cohort of children with strange but proud names.

— The leaders, after whom people named their children, were real heroes for adults. Since the seventies, there has generally been a rise in the originality of names. Everyone in this choice is repelled by an associative series and a conscious or subconscious wish for the child. And this wish is not always positive.

When choosing a name, parents are often guided by heroic characters. In the thirties, many little Valerievs appeared in honor of the pilot Chkalov, in the sixties, Yuriev was registered in the registry offices more often than others, recalling the feat of Gagarin. Girls Valentina — of course, in honor of Tereshkova. But over time, flights, including into space, have become not so heroic, and this fashion has passed.

When adults found themselves in a nameless field, where it became more difficult to find real heroes, they turned to books and films. How many Timurs appeared thanks to the work of Arkady Gaidar and Alice — in honor of the main character of «Guest from the Future». And this trend — to choose names for children based on their favorite characters — has survived to this day.

As soon as the new Star Wars saga appeared at the box office in 2017, girls began to be called Leah in many regions — such a trend, for example, was observed in Bashkiria and in the Perm Territory. Also in Perm and Yaroslavl, there were Game of Thrones fans who immortalized their love for the series in the names of their children — Arya and John (obviously Snow). In Kurgan, they generally made a cut over the past ten years and, among others, they found Hamlet, Thea and Lola.

Children with too complex names peers will still come up with nicknames

Share

— Nowadays, the personality and individuality of the child are highlighted everywhere. At some point, the parents were so imbued with this idea that they began to use it where it was necessary and where it was not necessary. On the one hand, this can be explained by the fact that parents want the best for their child and think: “If I call a girl Eve, then she, as the first woman, will be special.

Do you dream that, together with a fancy name, a child will get a better chance at life than you? Prepare to be crushed. After all, little depends on the name in this regard. Antoinette-Melissa-Bathsheba in the birth certificate and passport is not yet a pass to a brighter future.

— This is generally a ready-made narcissistic diagnosis, says Ramilya Aksenova. — And the prognosis is unfavorable, if anything. Displacing one’s complexes through naming a child and hoping that with such a name everything planned will definitely work out, in the future they can lead to unnecessary stress if these hopes are not justified.

Dreams of a beautiful life (for yourself and children) are rooted in the seventies. The appearance of foreign names personifies this in the best possible way. 40 years have passed, and the trends have not changed. That is why today you often meet Barbara, Melania, Teresa, Torina, Rudolf and other children with foreign names and specifically Russian patronymics (think about whether everyone will call your Karl Ivanovich Karnavalych?). Even one small London lives in the Trans-Urals. And in Yekaterinburg — Cosmos, Antelope, Odysseus, Nicoletta. Another important point is associations. Naming a child after a grandmother, grandfather, or any other person with whom pleasant memories are associated is a common thing.

— Adults want to transfer what the name is associated with to a specific person or meaning. They have some guidelines in their perception, says Ramilya Aksenova. But this is done primarily for themselves and others. Few people think about the child himself, because there is no common past with him. Particularly “gifted” generally perceive the child not as a person, but as a doll: “I have …”

Ordinary names have become the exception rather than the ordinary

Share

Moms and dads tend to focus more on their personal lives than on social values. Therefore, there are no heroic women and men in the names, after whom I would like to name a child. But there is still some ray of hope. Firstly, experts are sure that inventing sophisticated names is hardly associated with adult complexes. And secondly, practice shows that Aurora-Titanias and Hermogenes with Dobromirs suffer as much as ordinary Masha, Petya, Slava and Olya — no more, no less.

“From my own experience, I can say that people with rare names do not suffer more than others, but live like everyone else,” says Marina Maslennikova. — They do not feel their uniqueness and specialness just because they have an unusual name. At the same time, I didn’t hear anyone being teased. There is no shaking.

By the way, grown-up Helga, Elvin, Adam and Eve do not come to the passport office to change their names. They go there to change their names. For example, in the Yekaterinburg registry office they said that local residents prefer foreign surnames Taylor, Dieterle, Sigal, as well as Balagur, Veter, Uralskaya, Magnificent, Sochi and Tsvetushchaya.

Patriotically minded parents prefer to give their children Slavophile names — Darina, Jaromir, Vasilisa, Apollinaria, Foma and others. Nevertheless, the degree of arbitrariness by name is stable on average in the ward. Not so long ago, analysts prepared a rating of popular names in Russia, and on the first lines there are well-known Artems with Alexanders and Sofia with Anastasias.

We are unlikely to get rid of the tradition of coming up with unusual and original names for children, but we can see how 20 years later people live who their parents called “somehow wrong”.

the strangest and most unusual names of Kuzbass children in 2020 • 12/18/2020 • Pulp Fiction • Sibdepo

Perhaps one thing pleases in 2020 — despite all the hardships, Kuzbass residents have not lost their sense of taste (those who had it) and continue come up with unique names for their children. Sibdepo continues the glorious tradition and publishes a rating of the most unusual names of the outgoing year. Usually, the registry office issues “nominal” statistics a couple of months later, but we asked the department for data for the past 11 months. The management has kindly shared its statistics with the publication, and we, in turn, are in a hurry to present it to you. Previous tops from the «Mom, for what» series can be viewed here: 2017, 2018, 2019.

A small digression before starting. Surely those who are in the subject are interested in the question: how is Artyom doing there? For everyone else, let’s explain: Artyom has been the most popular male name in Kuzbass since 2011. So, let’s rejoice, Artyom is all right. This name continues to be the leader in popularity even in 2020. True, in 11 months of the outgoing year fewer Artyomovs were born than last year (634 versus 726), but still, at such a pace, Kuzbass will cease to be a mining area and become the land of Artyomov. In second place is Alexander, whom Artyom just pushed out in 2011. But Mikhail again broke into third place, who in 2019Dmitry ousted from there.

Girls, meanwhile, are also stable in this regard: since 2014, the top 1 has been occupied by Victoria, who in 2018 began to be squeezed by Sofia. Since then, the struggle has been fought with varying success, and in 2020 Sofia again took the podium. Third place goes to Alice, who debuted in 2019. That, it seems, is all with popular names. You can get down to business.

Out of competition

The first one we would like to single out is Cosmos. Simply space. At least not the Komsomol, and thanks for that. The last (and until this year the only) time in Kuzbass this name was given in 2014. However, it is possible that a boy with that name has a great future — maybe he is destined to become the Russian Elon Musk or, in extreme cases, Rogozin. By the way, this year Musk also stood out in the field of unusual names: the son of an American genius was officially named X Æ A-12, which is read as Ex Ash Hey-Twelv. As for the Kuzbass Cosmos, perhaps he could get along with the girl Veselina, whose name is remotely consonant with the word «universe».

Old Slavic League

It is gratifying to see that the traditions of their ancestors are still alive in Kuzbass. From year to year, Kuzbass residents give their children archaic names, and 2020, of course, was no exception. This year in Kuzbass were born: Svetoslav and Miloslav (both for the first time), Dimitri, Lukyan, Tikhomir, Ratibor, Kondrat, Kapiton, Yevseny, Athanasius and Arsenty. In another camp — Feofaniya, Zinaida (the second since 2009), two also appeared this year: Ustinya, Taisya and, of course, Marusya. In general, archaic names are a steady trend that is not going anywhere. We strongly recommend that the authorities do not wait for social tension and already allocate a place for the sanctuary of Perun. Two girls became League Ambassadors in 2020 — Slavyana and Russia. Separately, we note not so ancient traditions: this year only Vladlen was born in the region, which also occurs quite regularly. In addition, Yarogrom appeared in Kuzbass for the first time (this is where the joke about a bolt from the blue suggests itself). It’s more of a Scandinavian name though.

Club without «Yo».

Two people entered this closed community: Peter and Semyon. We at Sibdepo always try to remember the letter “Yo” and never miss it. Do not offend «Yo».

Club of aesthetes

Another elite club, the new members of which are: Leonard and his brother Leo, Mikail, Nicolas, as well as Venchela, Charlotte, Agnes, Arianna, Martha, Nell, Martha and, of course, Snezhanna together with Jasmine and Milisa (through «and» and with one «s»). The same club has an offshoot of double names. In our elegant land, it is not enough to be just Maria — Eva Maria or Golden Maria sounds much more noble. In extreme cases — Lika-Mira. Among the boys this year, there is only one double name — Gleb-Valdai.

Bible Team

The Book of Books is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for young and apparently religious parents. The names of famous saints and prophets this year were: Justinian, James, Matthew and Naum. In the girls’ camp, everything is more modest in this regard — only one name, but it speaks. The two girls were named Christina.

“Changeling names”

If classic names like Nastya and Ivan are already on edge, what about “shifters”? Not Sveta, but Svetlan, or Anastasy instead of Anastasia. Of course, there are male variations of female names, but you don’t see them often. However, for Svetlana and Anastasia there is a potential couple — Ivanna and Stepanida. Recall that in 2017 in Kuzbass three girls received the name Ivanna at once.

Those left behind the scenes

The Geographical Signage Club is all alone this year. It is solely occupied by a single Yenisei. No Severov and Urals for you. This year they managed without regalia — the Princes and Princesses have so far remained in the past. By the way, there were no titles either — they also managed without numbers and symbols. However, it is understandable.
