Just yesterday (that is, a year ago) a child was delighted with roller skates, rock climbing, a quasar, bowling, etc., but today he no longer wants to be just a participant in some kind of action. He wants, firstly, to generate this action himself, and, secondly, for him communication with peers is above all else. Therefore, in principle, if I had a lot of space in my house, then I would simply gather all Vasilisa’s friends, cook food and leave them to themselves. They have grown up to this! Let them be furious))) And this is exactly what my daughter wanted))) But my apartment will not withstand 25 children plus parents, so I began to look for options for holding a holiday. As expected, all my suggestions were rejected by Vasilisa, and nothing constructive was offered on her part. In general, 11 years old — consider a teenager.

Concept

This is what we have been working on for the longest time. After Lisin’s classmate celebrated last year in the style of Harry Potter in an old mansion, I only heard that it was an ideal friend. I understand everything, but, firstly, it’s not sporting to repeat, and secondly, There is no analogue to Potter on the idea of ​​a holiday for grown children, in my opinion. Thirdly, I have problems with the old mansion))) And in general, the budget there was completely unchildish. Of course, Harry Potter is really very cool. And alice, pirates, aliens — a kindergarten. In the end, of course, we thought of a million other options: a DJ party, a disco, a one-on-one show, a movie shooting, etc., until we finally settled on a gangster party with a game of Mafia.

Organizers

To implement the idea, I wanted to find an assistant and called dozens of organizers of the holiday, until I found those who seem to work not only with kids. In general, the people turned out to be quite decent, but I would not recommend them. They work as a team — that is, they have a presenter and presenter, several actors, a dance choreographer, a face painter, a DJ, etc. And so they develop the script of the holiday in such a way as to involve all of their own. At the stage of the script, I did not understand this. I just said — there is no need for someone to sing a song to children, they will not listen, they are not interested. No need to paint them — they are not babies. But some of their suggestions seemed super to me. For example, I really liked the idea of ​​a dance flash mob. That is, the children learn some movements with the instructor. And then, unexpectedly for the parents, all this is shown. Yeah, how))) In general, in the end we wrote a script in which everything was written down in detail by the minute — food, drinks, cake, playing the Mafia and other activities.

Choosing a place

Vasilisa wanted to invite 20-25 people to her party, it was planned that it would be an active holiday, so we did not find a suitable cafe or restaurant. When I fell into despair, the Wick cinema was advised to me quite by accident. This is such a small cinema hall and 2-level space around. Probably, it bribed me — parents and children do not intersect, mothers and fathers seem to be separate, but from the second floor, for example, everyone can see what is happening at the holiday. Also, during the whole holiday, any movie can be played in the cinema — I also really liked this option, I also wanted to entertain my parents.

Holiday

I will say right away that it turned out 70% percent. There were both wonderful finds and outright failures. There was a photo booth with a bang. Neither adults nor children could be dragged away from her. The children played quite actively in the «Mafia» itself. The boys became interested in the DJ and his master class. The girls still used a little face painting. A couple of outdoor games and a game of Crocodile, in which you have to guess the words that show you, went well. The dance flash mob went to hell. Half of the children in it refused to participate immediately. The other half lazily learned something, while Vasilisa shouted to me that it was all terrible and they would not do anything like that))) I had to quit everything. The second Vasilisina hysteria was connected with the leading girl who sang some kind of stupid song about love. My girl took off and gave me an ultimatum that if the singer does not close her mouth right away, she is not responsible for herself))) Everything is strict with us))) I had to turn the songs too quickly.

Debriefing

Despite the fact that Vasilisa saw the holiday program in advance, she still did not fully understand that it would be in reality. But in fact it turned out that not all the activities of her and her friends are pleasing. These kids join in any game together, and grown-up children already choose whether it is interesting for them or it is better to do something else. I was not ready for this. I was not ready for the fact that these children simply ignored some people. That is, the host, who behaved too pretentiously, they simply shut up. Here is a wonderful photo about it: Vasilisa is by no means happy with her jokes, but simply frankly laughs at her and asks her to leave. And the girl was lost and did not know how to get out of this situation.

But the place fully justified itself — it was quite comfortable there. And, of course, I just respect them for the opportunity to place their banners instead of posters)))

In general, I tend to consider this experience as a transitional stage to qualitatively different, not quite childish birthdays. What it will be, I don’t know yet, and if anyone has any ideas or experience, then share it — I need it, I need it. So far, the thought that I will have to organize something like this more than once makes me a little shaken. Or maybe I’m just finding fault))) If someone had organized such a holiday for me at the age of 11, I would have gone crazy with happiness! But I realized my main organizational mistake — the kids get tired quickly and a change of entertainment is relevant for them — they sat, played, ate, sat again, ran, etc. 11-12 years old and older are already adults who are interested in an interesting project, it should be whole, unified, for the whole holiday. We’re making a movie. And our children played Mafia for an hour and that’s it — they already need something else, that is, the Mafia is not a topic, it is quickly exhausted, but it turned out not to be good.
