That is why the representatives of the stronger sex should know how to call their girlfriend with affectionate words so that she likes it. There are a huge number of options that are common among the population, but you can use them to come up with something original and suitable for a particular girl.

What is the affectionate name for your girlfriend?

Let’s start with the most popular, but at the same time banal words: Bunny, Cat, Baby, Sunny, etc. It is not recommended to use such nicknames, since they have long lost their uniqueness and have become worn out. In surveys, many ladies indicate that such words against their will make them draw a parallel with previous relationships. In addition, today it is widely believed that men call their numerous ladies “Hares and Suns” only because they forget their real names. We hope that the information presented made us exclude such nicknames from our lexicon. If fantasy is not capable of more, then at least use word forms, changing endings, declensions, etc.

Experts recommend thinking about how to tenderly and originally call a girl, taking as a basis the game of associations. Swarthy ladies or burning brunettes with an obstinate character can be called «Panthers», many people really like this type of cat. A girl with a beautiful mop of white hair can be called a Lioness or a Lion Cub. In the game of association, it is important not to step over the existing line and not to use any shortcomings to come up with nicknames, even those that a man is delighted with. That is why immediately refuse: Donut, Pyshechki, Buns, etc.

Now let’s talk about how cute it is to call your girlfriend using her name. A gentle nickname can be invented by using derivatives from the name. For example, Olya is a Deer, Alla is a Scarlet Flower, Angelina is an Angel, etc. Another option with the use of a name involves using the meaning of the name, for example, the name Larisa means a seagull, so it would be appropriate to call your beloved Bird or Chick. You can use variations of the name in different languages. Use the multilingual dictionary to find the right variant.

Options for calling your girlfriend:

  1. Use the name of the flowers. You can take as a basis your favorite plant of the second half.
  2. In addition to the annoying Sun, you can opt for other celestial bodies: the Moon, Asterisk, Comet, Venus, etc.
  3. A very interesting option is the use of the names of goddesses from Ancient Greece and Rome. For example, Nika, Aurora, Aphrodite, Athena, etc. Before choosing a name, be sure to read what the goddess did and what she is known for so as not to get into an unpleasant situation.
  4. As a basis for a nickname, you can use the hobby of the second half. For those who like to clean and cook, the Hostess option is suitable. If the beloved loves to dance, then perhaps she will like the nickname — Ballerina.
  5. You can use different adjectives that would emphasize some feature of the girl or express an attitude towards her. Here are some examples: magnificent, dazzling, unsurpassed, etc.

Only a man can decide how to call a girl unusually and affectionately. The main thing is to take the choice with full responsibility so that the chosen nickname reflects the feelings and emotions experienced. You can pick up several options and invite your beloved to choose the nickname that she likes the most.

Name plus nickname, or why most representatives of Mountain Jews had nicknames in the past

the third representative of our people had a nickname. Maybe it was attached to the name in order to make it easier to recognize the person? After all, the Jews have similar Tanakhic names in almost every family.

The explanatory dictionary says that «nickname-nickname» is the unofficial name of a person. Unlike a real name, as a rule, it reflects the undesirable and real properties and qualities of the carrier, his origin, etc., and thus fixes the special meaning that these properties and qualities had for others. Nicknames can be given at different periods of life and in many cases can be known to a rather limited circle of people.

Nicknames and nicknames are very tenacious in the children’s environment, as one of the forms of humiliation. The most common are offensive words, remarks, phrases, and appeals. Usually, schoolchildren give each other nicknames if they want to emphasize the inferiority of the individual: Lame, Oblique, Bespectacled, Pencil, Midget, Skinny, Sloppy, Dirty, etc.

If you go through the list of all the collected «nicknames», you can determine what sense of humor the people who invented them had. Nicknames can be respectful if the activity of a particular person is noted. For the most part, they often joined the name of a person, based on his social status and position, for example, such as Lawyer, Alaverchi, Partizan, Inspector, Candidate, Professor, Duhtir, Bondur, Collective Farmer, Shoemaker, Head, Tailor, Director, Minister, Sailor, Nurse, Shishevechi, Shopkechi, Posilkechi, Erebechi, Shofir, Shashlychnik, Conductor, Choychi, Asvaldchi, Aptekchi, Bobochkil, Mitoshur, Giriesoh, Nefchi, Scribe, Collector, Zurnavchi, Football player, Van, Golden hand, etc.

There were cases when a person was offended when he heard his nickname, but, alas, if he got into the «people’s stream» under some name, then this, like a stigma, accompanied him all his life.

In her explanatory dictionary of the language of the Mountain Jews “Gold Placers”, Frida Yusufova writes in the chapter “Nicknames — Legemho”: “To this day, among the Mountain Jews of Azerbaijan, Dagestan, the North Caucasus, there are nicknames, the influence of which can affect the whole life. Often, by the nickname given by fellow countrymen, friends, neighbors, one can determine the status of a person, who he is and where he comes from, who his parents are and from what kind. This chapter includes 640 nicknames, of which I would like to note the most interesting.

Mountain Jews have nicknames that were given by the names or surnames of famous personalities: Abrek, Alibaba, Alibek, Amali, Amuanguli, Anushke, Ardov, Buzov, Budyonny, Gagarin, Kutuzov, Voroshilov, Gibilov, Gimizov, Hitlir, Karamazov, Moshe- Diane, Pushkin, Picasso, Stalin, Santa Barbara, Churdov, Chapai, Charliston, Chichov, Fidel-Castro, Khrushov…

It should be noted that among the nicknames of the Mountain Jews one can also meet not very partial ones. As a rule, they ridicule shortcomings, and not only real, but also possible ones, while nicknames arise for some characteristic feature, property. How can you endure, for example, if you were given such «nicknames» by the people as Good-Good, Bad, Badbad, Balagush, Bacha, Buli, Burdcha, Duseri, Bayonet, Shubuchkhur, Shibilit, Charlatan, Chon, Chum- bala, Chuzybuzy, Chonguli, Vinnikhulmi, Gibon, Giliz, Gachor, Garshuk, Gachele, Garagush, Garaguz, Gusuli, Indushka, Karkusha, Kashchei, Kisa, Kun-nederi, Kure nazu, Nose, Nene, Nebudperi, Nenekhur, Ovgurde hiyor, Odomihur, Oshpolu, Papayke, Pitih, Pistol, Pioniske, Pokhu, Potu, Gone, Utug, Harkhur, Khokhuli, Khuilu, Khurs, Chomba, Chepeh, Chonbochi, Worm, Shuver-hoft-zeni, Shur, Sheshmehe, Shiloli, BBCi, Tambal, etc.

Often a nickname, especially in a family, has a benevolent connotation, these are kind nicknames and appeals to children, and in this sense, children have many positive examples of respectful and friendly treatment to each other. It is known that among Mountain Jews it is customary to name children after grandparents, and therefore in the family they were simply called Bebe (hence the surname Babaev comes from) or Dede, Dedei, Dedeime (“mother” in various variations).

Mountain Jews, having lived among the Caucasian peoples for centuries, adopted some ethical norms from them. In the past, for example, a wife could not call her husband by name in front of strangers and, turning to him, called him Molbiyor (breadwinner), and he called her Dukhter (girl). These rules also applied within the patriarchal family. In the event of the death of the head of the family, the eldest son was called Bebeikhune.
