## Mental Math – Subtraction Flashcards

Build up your students’ mental math skills with a set of 36 subtraction flashcards using one- and two-digit numbers.

### Mental Math Strategies in a Flash!

These flashcards can be discussion points for students to decide which mental math strategies best solve the equations. Alternatively, each subtraction equation can simply be solved.

The flashcards have been designed to practice the following strategies:

• counting back
• compensation strategy
• split strategy
• compatible numbers
• decomposing to a ten
• using the inverse operation (fact families) to solve.

While most flashcards contain the minuend and subtrahend, some flashcards have one of these missing and provide the difference instead.

Specifications and contents

Packed dimensions (L*W*H), cm 14*28*1 Weight, kg, no more than 0. 2 Includes: task cards 10 pcs. instruction manual 1 pc.

The manual consists of 10 full-color, printed on cardboard and laminated with film. The cards are marked, where the letter designates the subject, the first number is the theme code, the second number is the serial number (theme) of the card in the series, the last number is the option (I or II).

M18.1. I , M18.1. II . Finding a number written in words. Repetition and consolidation of knowledge of the digits of multi-digit numbers. It is recommended to use in grades 2, 3 and 4 as tasks for oral counting.

M18.2. I , M18.2. II . For students in grades 3 and 4. Calculations in a column. Addition and subtraction of three and four-digit numbers with the transition through the category. It is recommended to write solutions in a notebook.

M18.3. I . For students in grades 3 and 4. Calculations in a column. Addition and subtraction of three and four-digit numbers with the transition through the discharge. In four tasks out of ten, you need to find a number indicating the missing bit of the subtrahend or one of the terms.

M18.3. II . For students in grades 3 and 4. Actions with multi-digit numbers, drawn up in a table in which it is necessary to correctly select the action of addition or subtraction, based on the name of the action component (reduced, subtracted, difference, summand, sum), and make calculations using the data in the table. It is recommended to write solutions in a notebook.

M18.4. I . For students in grades 3 and 4. Actions with multi-digit numbers, arranged in a table, in which it is necessary to correctly select the action of addition or subtraction, based on the name of the action component (reduced, subtracted, difference, summand, sum), and perform calculations using the table data.

M18.4. II . For students in grades 3 and 4. Actions with three-digit numbers, arranged in a table. It is necessary to choose the correct action of addition or subtraction and make calculations based on the data in the table, which indicates the lengths of the sides of the triangle and the perimeter. It is recommended to write down the conditions and the decision in a notebook.

M18.5. I . For students in grades 3 and 4. Complex examples for all actions with the definition of the order of actions and sequential calculations for which you need to calculate in a column. Tasks are arranged in schemes. It is not recommended that students complete all ten tasks at once. It is recommended to use one or two tasks per lesson as additional exercises. Completing tasks develops logic and requires a high concentration of attention.

M18.5. II . Text tasks in several actions for addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers. In the formulation of the text of the assignment, mathematical expressions such as «subtract their difference from the sum of two numbers» are used. It is recommended to use in grades 3 and 4, writing down the conditions and solution in a notebook.

Author: Ivlieva Natalia Alekseevna

Organization: SBEI SO «School of AOP No. 1 of Saratov»

Settlement: Saratov

Explanatory note

Subject: mathematics, grade 6 (textbook of mathematics for the 6th grade of special (correctional) educational institutions of the VIII type, authors G.M. Kapustina, M.N. Perova)

Educational and didactic cards : 3-level

Subject: «Addition and subtraction of numbers obtained during measurement»

Resource name: «Didactic flashcards»

Resource use: reinforcing the studied material in a lesson or during homework.

Purpose: improving the ability to perform addition and subtraction of numbers obtained during the measurement.

Tasks : — consolidate knowledge about the ratio of measures of length, mass, cost and time, pay attention to writing and solving examples with numbers obtained during measurement;

— develop processes of analysis, comparison, generalization;

— to cultivate independence and responsibility in work, accuracy and accuracy.

Working with resource : students receive individual cards, work according to 3 options, cards with answers are handed over to the teacher for verification.

Task: remember the ratio of measures of length, mass, cost and time and solve examples

1. Remember the ratio of measures of length and mass, solve examples.

3 cm 9 mm + 5 cm 8 mm = 6 t 5 c + 12 t 5 c =

5 m 2 dm + 8 dm = 19 t 2 c + 9 c =

12 m 43 cm — 6 m 8 cm = 12 q 21 kg — 8 q 79 kg =

12 m — 2 m 15 cm = 27 q 8 kg — 7 q 47 kg =

3 km 450 m + 2 km 550 m = 4 t 720 kg + 2 t 870 kg =

4 m 129 mm + 871 mm = 5 kg 772 g + 1 kg 450 g =

94 m 048 mm — 65 m 993 mm = 9 t 005 kg — 6 t 345 kg =

1 km — 208 m = 4 c — 12 kg =

1. Remember the ratio of measures of cost and time, solve examples.

45 k. + 55 k. = 5 hours — 12 min =

1 p. — 65 k. \u003d 4 hours 20 minutes — 1 hour 30 minutes \u003d
