What are the criteria for choosing furniture for children? Of course, these are safety, beauty, convenience and functionality, and if we are talking about the purchase of products for kindergarten, then mandatory compliance with the requirements of SanPiN is added to these characteristics.

Furniture for kindergartens is selected taking into account the height and age of pupils according to color coding. Let’s figure out how kindergarten furniture is labeled according to the new rules and what other requirements are imposed on it.

### Requirements for furniture for preschoolers

According to GOSTs, furniture for kindergartens must be made of durable, environmentally friendly materials, have an ergonomic design and a smooth surface that is easy to clean.

For the full physical development of the child and the formation of a healthy posture, tables and chairs must ensure the correct fit:

• in the sitting position, the child’s legs are bent at a right angle, the feet are on the floor, not in the air;
• minimum distance of 11 cm between knees and table top for free movement;

The new SanPiN does not have clear requirements for the area of ​​outdoor play areas in preschool educational institutions, but there should be enough space for a comfortable stay for all children and for group active games. When planning plots, you can rely on the standards that were in force earlier: 7 m² for each child of nursery and younger groups, 9 m² for older preschoolers.

Several types of playgrounds are being equipped in preschool educational institutions:

• Play areas for groups — the territories of different groups are separated from each other, most often green spaces, borders or low fences are used for separation.
• Sports area for morning exercises, sports events and general games. The recommended size of a sports ground in a kindergarten with up to 150 pupils is 250 m², several zones are organized in a preschool educational institution with a larger capacity.
• SDA playground in a kindergarten on the street — equipped with a zebra, road signs, a traffic police post and serves to teach kids the rules of the road.

The traffic area is usually equipped separately, and some of the elements can be used to decorate areas for groups, as shown on the layout

### Requirements for playgrounds in preschool educational institution

• Each plot should have a shade canopy or gazebo where kids can play on hot summer days with the active sun and in the off-season when it’s damp outside. The recommended area is 40 m². To store toys, a built-in pantry or lockable chests are equipped.
• It is necessary to install sports complexes for physical activity, as well as sandboxes with roofs, children’s tables, slides, swings.
• The surface of the playground in the kindergarten should be made soft. It can be natural (grass, sand) or polymeric. If defects appear on the coating, it must be replaced to avoid injury.
• Play equipment is selected taking into account the age of the pupils.
• All elements of the site must be made of durable, environmentally friendly, safe materials and comply with the requirements of GOSTs.

Playground complexes should not have sharp corners and protruding parts, slides should be equipped with railings on the rise and slope. All projectiles must be freely accessible and clearly visible from different angles. Compliance with these requirements will make it easier for the teacher to control the site and will eliminate cases of injury to pupils.
