good morning readers! It’s been a little while since I did an update on what the Teeny Tot is doing. We just got back from spring break and she’s been working diligently on her kindergarten year.
She’s reading well now, and still having fun doing all of the K4 Kindergarten activities along with some other fun things that we add in here and there. So I thought I’d take today to give you a little snapshot of what she’s been up to.
She loves to do mazes, and so she’s been working her way through my K4 Kindergarten maze worksheets this year.
She also likes to do puzzles. Since she’s our last little one to go through the curriculum, I just printed the K4 Number Order Puzzles on copy paper, and then she cuts them apart along the lines. Next she reassembles them onto a piece of construction paper and glues them down to complete the puzzle.
Of course we’re working our way through Math U See, and she’s having fun with her blocks as usual!
To help with number writing practice, counting, and fine motor skills today she did one of my preschool roll & trace activities.
This Constructive Playthings Cubical Activity pack is a great activity for building logical thinking skills. Students recreate the image on the cards. This is a fairly basic card, but they increase in skill level as you go through them. Some include blocks that can’t be seen on the card, but must be there to complete the shape. Students have to use spatial reasoning to figure out how to make the shape work.
We also like to play games with our unifix cubes and a large die. I have free printables on my blog called Dice & Domino math that include a bunch of fun games for prek and elementary grades.
This one is another unifix game called Unifix Sudoku, you can read more about it on my Living Math post.
And of course she loves to cut and paste with her missing numbers worksheet, included in my K4 Kindergarten curriculum.
Here she’s working on beginning sounds, so she’ll circle the picture that starts with the letter at the beginning of the row. This is also in my K4 Kindergarten curriculum.
It’s been awhile since we brought out our Hot Dots Jr. games, and so I thought I’d pull them out for a bit of a change in her daily activities. They have harder ones, but we worked on her phonics/letter sounds today. Each time she picks the right one, the pen lights up green and makes a happy sound.
We’re also working on skip counting in math, so I added in my K4 Kindergarten skip counting flashcards.
She’s also still working on handwriting, although she does an Abeka handwriting sheet as well. She just likes my printables because they’re a bit more fun.
Do your kids love Do-A-Dot markers as much as mine? Anytime we bring these out she loves it. I will say that you need to put something UNDER your worksheet if you’re working right on a white desk because the markers bleed through the paper and onto the desk top. Nothing that a little windex or cleaner can’t get off, but still. Here she’s highlighting all of the letter “Ns” in the worksheet.
This one is always fun, it’s the clothes pin number match. I used a sharpie and wrote numbers on each of the little plastic clips (found at Wal-mart) and then she counts the dots, and matches the clip with the correct number on it. I also have an alphabet wheel match up game as well
And that’s it for today’s recap! I hope you’re having a great year and learning lots! Unless otherwise indicated in the post, all of the activities can be found in my K4 Kindergarten Curriculum. I also have a lot of free kindergarten worksheets on my free printables page!
Is my Letter of the Week Preschool Curriculum a little too easy for your student? Are you ready for something a little more challenging? Then the K4 Curriculum is for you! The K4 Curriculum is geared towards kids ages 4-5 who are kindergarten ready and want a fun hands-on kindergarten curriculum. The K4 curriculum covers beginning reading and phonics skills as well as basic math addition, subtraction, and skip counting skills and more!

«We play games — we develop speech»
22996 html m2094f867
Sounds are delivered and introduced into speech, but if the child’s speech is not controlled, he can easily lose them again, and everything will have to start all over again. Do not rush to throw away the notebook, the folder with the recommendations of the speech therapist —
it has poems, games and exercises that can be repeated in the summer.
During walks, trips, you can also control the pronunciation of a “difficult” sound in a child in spontaneous speech by asking them to talk about something, describe an object. If you go on vacation, on vacation — do not miss the opportunity to use the new impressions of the child to develop the expressiveness of speech. When describing, for example, the sea, mountains, landscape, draw the child’s attention to the use of adjectives and other parts of speech that make our speech richer. Talk to your child more often and not only at the everyday level, watch your own speech, avoid parasitic words, because children very often copy the speech of their parents, their manner of communication.
Consolidation of sounds in speech is a training: the greater the number of repetitions, the faster and better the introduction of sounds into a child’s speech. In other words, the habit of correct pronunciation is formed, displacing the habit of defective pronunciation.
Probably, it is impossible to imagine the modern development of society without information and communication technologies. There is no doubt that every educated person should own a computer. The PC is quickly entering our child’s life.
A child and online games are a familiar phenomenon in modern society, but is it useful? Using a computer is another area where you can successfully combine the acquisition of useful knowledge with the development of intellectual and creative abilities. Speech therapy games online will help your child to spend time with benefit and interest.
Talking about the use of a computer by children of preschool age, the question arises of maintaining health and vision. The question of «staying» at the computer is relevant.
It is reasonable to make time limits for PC lessons
- • 5 years – no more than 7 minutes;
• 6 years — 10 minutes;
• 7-9 years — 15 minutes;
In addition, between classes, if they involve a longer stay of the child in front of the screen, it is necessary to take breaks of at least 10 minutes.
The following list of sites with online speech therapy games will become an assistant in the development of a child’s speech: ( leaflet with addresses of sites ).
You can collect presentations on lexical topics, on automating sounds, on teaching literacy, as well as physical exercises, finger gymnastics, eye trainers and much more. Now we will talk about some.
Speech therapy chants . The main principle is the close connection of speech material with music and movement. Lyrics arouse interest in children, create a joyful mood, make impressions emotionally richer, help to overcome complexes and speech disorders more easily.
Educational presentations. «The presentation is an educational mini cartoon, it is an electronic sound book with beautiful pictures, it is an excellent tool for mothers to tell their child about the world around them the way she sees it herself, without leaving home and without flying to distant countries.» The use of educational multimedia presentations improves the efficiency of the process of learning and development of the child, opens up new opportunities for education.
In the section «Teaching reading and counting» you will find simple but effective games that will help learn easily for preschoolers letters , numbers , learn to read and count . It offers coloring pictures on various lexical topics, which are practiced in speech therapy classes in kindergartens. Together with the children, you can print and color these pictures, and then paste them into a notebook, thereby reinforcing the vocabulary on this topic.
Online game «Alphabet Coloring» — The game helps to remember the names of the letters of the Russian alphabet, trains in the selection of words for a given letter, develops phonemic perception.
Online game «Phonetic coloring» — the game helps in the development of phonemic perception, forms the skill of isolating sounds in a word, helps to learn how to make a phonetic analysis of a word.
The child chooses a sound, hears it and sees 4 pictures on the screen. The names of some pictures contain the selected sound, they can be colored by clicking on individual parts of the picture with a brush. The names of other pictures do not contain the selected sound, when you try to color them, a sound signal will be heard.
Remember! A computer will not replace live communication, games with a child, but it can become an assistant if time intervals are observed.
Tips for the summer!
— sometimes repeat the passed verses and learn new ones;
— ask the child questions on topics studied during the year;
— observe wildlife, discuss with the child everything he sees;
— buy paper and paints for the summer — let the child sketch his summer impressions;
— read books aloud to your child and ask how he understood what he read.
Dear parents!
Help your child in his development, in overcoming difficulties!
The most important thing is that children have a rest in the summer, gain strength, get stronger, but it is also important that they do not forget all the knowledge, skills and abilities that they acquired in the classroom.
