Answers

1. Answer :

In 7.350478, the digit at ten thousandths place is 4. The digit at hundred thousandths place is 7, which is greater than 5.

So, add 1 to the digit 4 at ten thousandths place and drop all the digits to the right of 4.

Therefore, 7.350478 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 7.3505.

2. Answer :

In 2.501835, the digit at ten thousandths place is 8. The digit at hundred thousandths place is 3, which is less than  5.

So, keep the digit 8 at ten thousandths place as it is and drop all the digits to the right of 8.

Therefore, 2.501835 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 2.5018.

3. Answer :

In 9.335076, the digit at ten thousandths place is 0. The digit at hundred thousandths place is 7, which is greater than 5.

So, add 1 to the digit 0 at ten thousandths place and drop all the digits to the right of 0.

Therefore, 9.335076 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 9.3351.

4. Answer :

In 6.0102514, the digit at ten thousandths place is 2. The digit at hundred thousandths place is 5.

So, add 1 to the digit 2 at ten thousandths place and drop all the digits to the right of 2.

Therefore, 6.0102514 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 6.0103.

5. Answer :

In 0.015203, the digit at ten thousandths place is 2. The digit at hundred thousandths place is 0, which is less than  5.

So, keep the digit 2 at ten thousandths place as it is and drop all the digits to the right of 2.

Therefore, 0.015203 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 0.0152.

6. Answer :

In 0.000068, the digit at ten thousandths place is 0. The digit at hundred thousandths place is 6, which is greater than 5.

So, add 1 to the digit 0 at ten thousandths place and drop all the digits to the right of 0.

Therefore, 0.000068 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 0.0001.

7. Answer :

In 7.57643, the digit at ten thousandths place is 4.

The digit to the right of 4 is 3, which is less than 5.

So, keep the digit 4 at ten thousandths place as it is and drop the digit 3 to the right of 4.

Therefore, 7.57643 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 7.5764.

8. Answer :

In 0.28757, the digit at ten thousandths place is 5.

The digit to the right of 5 is 7, which is greater than 5.

So, add 1 to the digit 5 at ten thousandths place and drop the digit 7 to the right of 5.

Therefore, 0.28757 rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 0.2876.

9. Answer :

Formula for circumference of a circle :

= 2πr

Substitute r = 6.2.

= 2π(6.2)

= 12.4π

Using calculator for the the value of π,

= 38.955748……..

In 38.955748…….., the digit at ten thousandths place is 7.

The digit to the right of 7 is 4, which is less than 5.

So, keep the digit 7 at ten thousandths place as it is and drop all the digits to the right of 7.

38.955748…….. rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 38.9557.

Therefore, the circumference of the circle is about 38.9557 cm.

10. Answer :

Formula for area of a circle :

= πr2

Substitute r = 9.8.

= π(9.8)2

= 96.04π

Using calculator for the the value of π,

= 301.718558……..

In 301.718558…….., the digit at ten thousandths place is 5.

The digit to the right of 5 is 5.

So, add 1 to the digit 5 at ten thousandths place drop all the digits to the right of 5.

301.718558……… rounded to the nearest ten thousandth is 301.7186.

Therefore, the area of the circle is about 301.7186 cm2.
