3 | Year 3 spelling prefixes and suffixes

These two activities help students learn all about spelling patterns when adding prefixes and suffixes to words.

One is a word sort activity that is split into different Y3 spelling patterns, where children can be given sets of word cards and asked to discuss the common spelling patterns, before sorting the cards into groups.

The other is a word spinner resource pack that features 16 letter strings, and uses vocabulary that will enhance children’s comprehension and support more-effective writing. Blank templates are included so children can make their own puzzles for classmates, or word spinners for revision.

It does not cover all 100% of even Russian orthography, work is still underway on the remaining complex sections, we hope it will be completed by the end of the year. As for the set of punctuation rules, this work is already being carried out by several institutes, but according to our forecasts, it will be ready no earlier than in 2-3 years, «- said Derevyanko on the occasion of the Day of the Russian Language, which is celebrated on June 6 — the birthday of the Russian poet A.S. Pushkin. He noted that the draft rules should be treated as objectively as possible and pay attention to the fact that no global changes are expected in the current rules and in the document that is submitted to the public. «The wording of the rules is being clarified so that they can be was to be understood and actively used by teachers,» Derevyanko said. According to him, data about unpronounceable consonants appeared in the new rules. For example, the combination «rgsk» in words such as «Vyborg». Both spellings of letters with the sounds «e» and «e» are also presented in the draft of the new rules. He noted that in the current rules and in the document that is presented to the public, no global changes are expected. «These are point changes that do not imply any turn, and they do not talk about any reform of the Russian language,» Derevyanko said.
