Beach Theme

Arin Solange at Home

While this adorable beach ball-themed party was done for a second birthday, we think it would be a great fit for a first birthday, too. Set up your own ball pit (or opt for a venue that already has one!) and put up some handmade paper beach balls as décor, and you’re set! Pajama Theme

Play Party Plan

Look no further than your baby’s bookshelf for a great birthday theme idea, like this party based on the classic book Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton. Decorations and desserts were displayed on doll-sized beds, stars permeated the decor and some of the cake pops even looked like the characters in the illustrations. They may be too young for a real sleepover, but a PJ-themed party is a great excuse to let the birthday kid — and even the guests — don their pajamas, like they did here!

Winter «One-derland» Theme

Kay Buell

Calling all parents of winter babies: This silvery theme party lends itself well to cold-weather celebrations, starting with the abundance of snowflakes and white-and-silver colors on details like tinsel trees and cake pops. Adding in some pink or blue, like on a glittery highchair banner, could also be fun, as would a snowflake-themed crown for (even just a few) pics.

Apple Theme

Bee-Ing Mommy

In the same way that a «Winter One-derland» party is great in the cold weather, we love how this “Apple of My Eye” party took place in the fall — not to mention the inspirational list of fall foods and apple treats one can serve at such a party. (Caramel apple nacho bar, anyone?) Other autumn-esque touches: Consider small hay bales or fake leaves in your décor.

A bee-themed birthday is a bee-dutiful (we couldn’t resist!) way to celebrate your baby on their «bee=day,» and this party takes lots of cues from these buzzy creatures and the flowers they love. We love the handmade highchair banner and the “thanks for bee-in here” favors, which in this case featured decorated Oreos. Cute honeybee soaps would also make a great take-home.

 Festa PR

First off, a fun circus theme! Come one, come all! Welcome to the big top!

A circus-themed party for your little strong man or lion tamer’s first birthday will be a huge hit. Set up an outdoor tent, and decorate it with bunches of red and yellow balloons. Then add crepe paper streamers in bright colors, animal crackers, and animal-themed plates and napkins. After all, they are all easy ways to instantly add that circusy flair.

Add some overflowing popcorn buckets with marshmallows as catchy centerpieces and use red and white striped tablecloths for the tables. Invite your grown-up guests to crunch on some old-fashioned peanuts and cracker jacks while enjoying a clown juggle bouncy balls and twist balloons into all kinds of shapes. This is also a fun theme for a twin’s first birthday!

Ms. Laine Events

Ohh baby, baby, you’re a wild one! Excite your little boy for his first birthday with a safari themed party! Time to get out the animal plushies and decorate the room with oversized wild animals. Place plush monkeys ‘swinging’ over the event. Decorate the tables with green table cloths, houseplants, candles or lanterns for a rustic look, and throw in some wooden boxes to accent and elevate your smaller details.

Toss decorative green or brown tall grasses (kudos if it’s real!) and add toy safari jeeps. Look for baby-friendly drumbeat playlists and add the ambiance. You can even play a background track with animal sounds to add to the jungle-like atmosphere.

Remember, cupcakes with mini animal figurines are a fantastic alternative to cake, and your little Wild One can smash one or two! Check out more pics of this gorgeous party here.

Ms. Laine Events

Of course, Rubber Duck is such a classic theme for your baby boy’s first birthday party. Rubber Ducky represents a familiar and feel-good toy that most of us remember fondly. Place ‘families’ of ducks in baskets and on tables. Your guests will enjoy duck-shaped cookies and cake pops, and a tiered cake with a duck topper will be an absolute hit.

Plus there will be plenty of opportunities for adorable photos and you can also place ducks in a kiddie pool outside and have duck races! And check out this link for more pics of this pretty Rubber Duck party.

If your Baby (or your family) is into trucks, cars and vehicles, then this makes a great theme. A vintage Garage party is a fun idea for a relaxed party theme. You could event host a BBQ for the adults.

If the song hasn’t driven you crazy, then Jump right in to this shark-themed first birthday party! Place silver and blue balloon clusters everywhere as well as fish netting, sea shells,  and baby shark decorations. A tiered cake with a shark-shaped topper is a great focal point.

Invite the guests to eat some shark bait (bite-sized appetizers).  Plus a blue mood light and bubble machine will have your guests feeling like they are deep in the ocean! Check out our Shark Party feature here.

Teddy Bears Picnic First Birthday Party

Bizzie Bee Creations

Next up, come to the Teddy Bears picnic to celebrate your baby boy’s first birthday party.

Of course, this is one of the childhood favorite rhymes and your little man will love bringing his teddy along to the party! And this is a great theme for both indoors and outdoors, rain or shine. Depending on the time of year, set up a cozy indoor setting.

Or go for the full picnic experience with a backyard picnic! And when the bears are all worn out they can take a rest on your picnic blankets and pillows. Remember to ask your guests to bring their own Teddies.

Or you can have several extras available for all to join in the fun. Either way, what a very memorable day it will be.

Woodland Animals First Birthday Party

 I Do Parties

Next up, let’s go for a walk in the woods! Plus your little guy might have something in common with cute and mischievous woodland creatures!

Theming his first birthday around furry friends will put a smile on your baby boy’s face and his guests’ at his first birthday party. Mushrooms, toadstools, pine cones, and berries will transport the guests to the middle of a magical forest. Animal-themed sweets are an adorable addition to the ecosystem you’re creating. Add a green foliage backdrop and burn some woods scented candles before your guests arrive to transport them.

Place artificial (splinter-free) or sanded chopped log pieces and greenery in the setting to enliven the atmosphere along with adorable animal cutouts. This party scene will surely make for a fun event that will have lasting memories. And for some cute woodland cake ideas, check out this post for more inspiration.

Oh The Places You Will Go Party

Popping Parties Events

Pop on a pair of aviator goggles and get ready to pilot a hot air balloon to the best party ever! For your little boy’s first birthday let your imagination float away to all the possibilities for his future. Bring out the bunnies, bears and foxes to deliver the goodies for your guests. Pack your suitcases and fly a banner announcing the big number one!

The sky is the limit, so go baby blue, white, and yellow for sunshine. Throw in hanging puffy clouds and fairy lights and add stars to help create a classic scene. Maps and globes make amazing decorations, immediately filling up space and adding color to the room. Add travel-themed helium balloons to the room and this party will take off!

Trendy Events

Now, a Farm Animals party is one of the all-time childhood favorites!

Deck out your venue with farm-fresh decor. Bowls of apples and strawberries and old fashioned milk bottles with fairy lights make great centerpieces. Pass out deviled eggs and mini milkshakes to give your guests the country farm feels.

Meanwhile, faux grass, a hay bale, and a white picket fence make the perfect spot for pictures. Then everyone can head over to the petting zoo and visit with the soft sheep, pink piggies, baby chicks, and cute ducklings!

Ms Laine Events.

If your baby enjoys kicking a ball around then this might be up your alley! This football-themed party will capture the attention of the little ones and get the party kicked into high gear. A trophy goes to your sweet boy for being the best!

Football and jersey-shaped cake pops will be welcome and tasty treats for the guests. Numerous football balloons will make everyone want to set up the net and start a match. This football-themed party will bring everyone together to celebrate this special day. And that’s what we call a win!

If your little man loves all things construction, then this colorful Construction Party would be perfect! There are lots of fun birthday party ideas for boys, but if your little boy loves all things that move, then this is a winner! Mini diggers and cement mixers along with bite-sized treats make this a fun party for little boys.

You Are My Sunshine First Birthday Party

Photo Sweet Dreams by Dana | Cookies @thecakeshopny

If your Baby boy is the light of your life, then this could be the theme for you! Just imagine, your guests arrive to the sounds of “You are my sunshine, my only sunshine” in the background.

Show everyone how special he is with bright yellow sunflower cookies and a festive paper sun complete with streamers as rays on the wall. Embellish the scene with yellow roses and of course, don’t forget to top the cake with a beautiful sunrise.

Use blue as an accent for a clear sky, icing and decorative baubles. Puffy white cotton will create soft clouds and white candles dotted around complete the sunshine theme. Surely your guests will know how special your little boy is!

Photo credit From The Heart Events

If your family are the outdoorsy kind, then this Lumberjack party theme could be for you. Filled with rustic charm, delight your Baby with lots of greenery, fir cones and a grizzly bear!

And a picnic bench makes a great setting for the party table. Plus the leaves scattered on the floor will be fun for the babies to explore!

Vintage Winnie the Pooh Party

The Party Chick Events

Finally, the last of our First Birthday ideas for boys is a classic! And, you can’t go wrong with a Vintage Winnie the Pooh first birthday party for your baby boy!

Invite plush Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, piglet, and all of the unique characters to join in on the fun. Simply fill the table with sweet treats, and a big honey bear especially for Pooh.

Remember, this is a theme you can keep simple and your guests will feel comfy and right at home with all these familiar characters!

Final Note

Pioneers in the category of children’s parties

Everything happens for the first time: friendship, love, marriage, the birth of a child. And one day there comes such an important date as the birthday of a child 1 year old. By this time, parents have already managed to fully experience not only all the difficulties, but also many positive aspects associated with the increase in the family.

But if the child is the first, it means that the parents have no experience in holding a children’s birthday party yet. Therefore, it is necessary to understand this issue from scratch, and gradually accumulate experience. By the way, there is a good technique for this: you need to get a special notebook and call it “ideas for the first birthday of a child.” Of course, it won’t fill up on its own, so as soon as an interesting idea comes across, you need to write it down in a notebook, and it doesn’t matter where it came from: from a feature film, from an Internet forum, or originated by itself. By the time the holiday date arrives, there should be a lot of them. The same notebook can be used for subsequent children’s birthdays.

Celebrating a child’s first birthday is just the start of a unique life journey.

Living pages of the past

Is the first birthday of a child the most important in life? Perhaps not, because they are all equally important, but the first one still feels somehow special. The most significant moment can be called precisely the moment the baby is born.

For the child himself, his first anniversary is unlikely to become a solemn event: at the age of one, he still understands little, and even a few years later he will hardly be able to remember what his first birthday was …

So one of the most important ideas for a child’s first birthday came up: it would be nice to provide a video of the festive process, and then mount a full-fledged film from this material. Years will pass, and it will be very interesting for an adult child to look at himself from the height of his years. It will be especially interesting for the birthday person to look at the past already in adulthood — it will even be possible to show these shots to their own children, and even grandchildren.

The first birthday of a child will always be the first.

Step by step, day by day, month by month…

Another interesting idea for a one year old’s birthday comes from here: make a photo collage with a monthly report. How to do it? Very simple: once a month it is enough to arrange a small photo shoot for the baby, and then select the most interesting picture from it. So he will become the “photo of the month”. After a year, exactly twelve of these photos will accumulate, and from them it will be possible to make a festive birthday photo collage: in the form of an album, or as a set of slides on a computer.

Of course, on the birthday of a child of 1 year, you can let your imagination run wild: arrange 12 photographs in the form of a clock face, a starry sky, a flower meadow (in the center of the flowers — a photo), a cheerful train, a twelve-story house, zodiac signs, twelve exploits of Hercules, etc. close relatives.

To make a 1 year old child’s birthday look harmonious, decorated in the same style, you can purchase a ready-made set for the holiday: such sets usually include various small elements that create a given style. For example: caps, crowns, stickers for champagne and other drinks, labels for chocolates and sweets, paper cups, snack boxes, canapé skewers, flags, invitation cards for guests, birthday cards, envelopes, games, etc.

All this, of course, can be done on your own, in some of your own subjects: bear cubs, princesses and fairies, candy-chocolate extravaganza, endless space, music, etc. The first birthday of a child will in any case be unique, because there are no others yet was!

Priorities of festive elements

What should be emphasized when preparing the holiday «birthday of a child of 1 year»? Prepare two dozen unique dishes with an inimitable taste and decorated in such a way that it is impossible not to try them all? Or maybe you need to provide a laser show with great musical accompaniment? What about performances by magicians, clowns, trained animals, fireworks, fireworks and bubble shows?

All this, of course, is great, but, unfortunately, it will hardly be appropriate for the birthday of a one-year-old child. The menu of the young birthday boy is very limited, so he will not be able to try and appreciate the culinary masterpieces. Laser show and loud noisy music can scare him, as well as clowns with their soap bubbles and fireworks.

But he will definitely pay attention to the beautiful festive decoration of an apartment or his room! He will definitely like colorful balloons, soft toys, holiday garlands, streamers, flowers, lanterns, balloon figures, artificial trees, etc. All these decorations will be very appropriate for a 1 year old child’s birthday.

A living world with all its harmony

What else can you think of for a 1 year old child’s birthday? If the weather allows, you can take an interesting walk in nature. Choose some beautiful place where the birthday boy has never been. For example, go to the botanical garden to look at exotic flowers, or see how the ground in the park is covered with a carpet of yellow and red leaves. Take a walk through a flowering meadow, among daisies and cornflowers. Stand on the river bank, looking at the restless water, sun glare, reeds and sandy shore, listen to frog songs. You can go to the zoo — see how real animals look, and then compare — to what extent toy animals correspond to them … And if it happens in winter, you can fashion a snowman who will happily congratulate you not on the New Year, but on your birthday, and also harness it in sled a domestic dog and how to ride on a snowy carpet.

In the family circle or a holiday at home

Such an important holiday as a child’s birthday 1 year is largely a family holiday, which means you need to invite all close relatives. Moreover, due to age, the birthday boy is still not able to actively celebrate. Therefore, the main “burden” falls on parents and relatives: instruct them to prepare interesting events and competitions. For example:

  • compose a poem congratulating the birthday man and read it out loud
  • sing a cheerful children’s song
  • to dance or organize a round dance
  • put on a puppet show
  • take a picture with the birthday boy and write congratulations on the photo
  • take part in a family quiz and answer questions compiled by the child’s parents
  • make a list of famous people born on the same day, as well as prepare a horoscope for the baby for the future
  • bring your own photos at the age of one year
  • make a family tree for the whole family
  • write letters to the future (the birthday boy will be able to print and read them upon reaching a certain age)
  • you can arrange a fun lottery: put various small souvenirs into a basket, and the birthday boy will choose them randomly from there and hand them over to guests as a keepsake

If there is a film about the first days of the life of a birthday boy, you can watch it with all your relatives and share your memories of how his first year went.
