GIRLS. THEY ARE SO DIFFERENT…
I present to your attention a list of my favorite books, the main characters of which are girls. The list is small, but it contains stories about very different girls. These girls are cheerful and funny, smart and kind, brave and determined, able to make friends and help friends in difficult situations. They live in different countries, but they are all united by kindness, decency, the ability to love and compassion. Each of them has something to learn. In addition, they are somehow my same age, and this seems to me significant and interesting. I note that my list of books is designed for readers from about 8 to 13 years old. Although, perhaps, boys will be interested in reading them.
The books in the list are arranged in order of their importance and interest to me. I have read them over and over again.
I think the reader will find it interesting to read in that order.
The first two books on the list are easier to read but impressed me the most with their brilliance, fantasy and magic. The third book, about the Bolotnitsa, is full of mysticism. The last two books touch on very serious topics, make you think about important and sometimes very adult issues.
1. Mikheeva TV «Asino summer» (Fairy tale)
The main character of the story Asya comes to a summer camp, where she meets three dwarfs, after which her ordinary life turns into an exciting adventure for her. She meets many unusual, good and kind fairy-tale characters — for example, living sunbeams, Thunderman, the Sea King and his daughter, the White Monk and many others. They help Asa find the ingredients to make a magical drink to help her friend Cucumber (Kolya Ogurtsov) when he has injured his spine and could be left disabled. Asya blames herself for what happened, but then finds a way to help the boy. Asya performs a miracle, overcoming her fears, infringing on herself in some way, but unbendingly goes towards her goal.
This story is about friendship, magic, fighting fears, overcoming oneself, fortitude, growing up and accepting what is happening. The book will teach courage, courage, perseverance, diligence and mutual assistance. The story is very fabulous, positive, exciting and not boring, very sincere, which is why this book is at the top of my list. Here the real world and the fictional world are intertwined so gracefully that the book draws you in and does not let go until the very end. Affects the values that are important to everyone. Shows that nothing comes for free. When reading, the feeling of warmth, kindness and love emanating from the characters does not leave. I want to go to a summer camp and maybe meet all the characters in the book there. What if…
2. Belenkaya N. M. «Sorceress Girls» (The Story)
In this story, four very different girls, from different families with different social levels, become witches. They discover Moscow with parallel spaces and mysteries, with a different reality and the magical life of the city.
The city really has magic, full of legends, secrets and spells, and a miracle can happen literally every second. Girls learn to control magic. To save the gift, they need to be together. What I love about this book is that good, as always, triumphs over evil. The girls did not channel the magic given to them into a black channel. They understand that magic should be white and benefit others.
Thanks to this book, you begin to notice the amazing and magical in the most simple and ordinary things. To see the world around as if from a different angle. You start to think: maybe I missed something unusual and everything is not just like that?
3. Mastryukova T.O. «Swamp» (Mystical story)
This whole story is simply saturated with mysticism, after which it becomes very uncomfortable in the soul. Vika and her parents go in the summer for a month to a very remote village. In the courtyard of the house, Vika and her mother find an old abandoned well.
After that, strange, terrible, mystical things begin to happen related to the swamp in the forest near the village.
In some places it is even scary to read, especially at night. The story is written in a very realistic way. An abandoned village, a mysterious forest, an ancient mystical creature…
Vika is a very brave and adventurous girl, firm and resolute. There is much to be learned from her. When her mother disappeared, the girl cannot get through to her father and begins to solve the problem on her own. It turns out a whole investigation of a terrible story that has been going on in this village for many years.
4. Kate DiCamillo «Thank you Winn-Dixie» (The Story)
Indian girl Opal Boulogne is very lonely. She doesn’t have a mother. With her father, she moves to a small town where she does not know anyone. One day she sees in a supermarket called «Wynn-Dixie» a funny, ridiculous stray dog, shaggy and overgrown. And this dog smiles like a human.
The girl takes the dog home. There must have been a spark between them. The dog changes her life.
India Opal begins to look at the world with different eyes. Finds friends where least expected. Each of her new friends has his own fate, often lonely.
The main idea of the work, in my opinion, is that one must be able to enjoy life and notice the good things around. It is important to be able to look around, and then you will understand that you are not alone and that there are many good people around, friends who need you and who you need. And that you can not make hasty conclusions about people.
The book is bright and kind, sincere, it is read very easily, but it makes you think about many important and serious, adult things. And it’s amazing how a simple homeless dog can change the lives of so many people for the better.
5. Nöstlinger K. «Red-haired Frederica» (Fairy tale)
Frederica, a girl with very bright red hair, is teased at school and on the street.
She’s upset. But one day she finds a letter from which she learns about a magical land and that she has magical hair that can help her and everyone she loves. Frederica flies to this magical land where everyone is friendly and tolerant towards each other.
This is a very kind fairy tale. But Frederica does not fight the problem, but rather runs away from it.
The book makes you think that there is no justice in the world, that a person is often met “by clothes”, and people do not like others who are not like everyone else. How hard it is to be a «black sheep» when they laugh at you. What thoughts does such a person have, and what feelings does he experience.
Frederica flies off to a magical land where there is no more ridicule. Probably, every such person wants to invent for himself a country where he is valued, respected, where he is friends with him.
We must learn to be friendlier, more tolerant of people, to draw conclusions about a person, judging by his soul and actions, and not by appearance.
